At the moment,
ownership of the IC ring has been hijacked by another
party via the "adoption" mechanism at webring.com. Webring's policy
is to not reverse completed "adoptions". I've contacted the other
party but so far my attempts to elicit any evidence of personal integrity
from this individual have failed miserably.
The hijacker uses the Webring ID "sis_baldus", and unlike myself, keeps his
(yes, I admit to an assumption here)
real name and email address hidden. He has shown no evidence of
any real interest or caring for Intentional Community, nor any web
design skills or ability to host a ring home. Even now, the IC webring is
undeniably my intellectual property. All of the text and
graphics on the hub and navbar are still mine, unchanged since the hijack.
If you'd like to make a personal appeal to this person to return
ownership of the ring to me, do so via Webring messaging
here.
In the meantime, the ring does
seem to be still functioning, but no longer under our qualification policies,
and many of the original member sites have already left the ring. Migration
to another service may be forthcoming if a solution cannot be found. Email me
at Ringmaster
for more information. As I said, the policies we established for this ring are no longer in force,
but if you'd like to see what they were, you can do so at
this link. You can also view the
original description on the same page,
or if you really want to,
link into the ring in its current state.
I apologize to all current and former members of the ring for any lack
of vigilance on my part that may have otherwise allowed me to intercept
the "adoption" before it occurred. I can assure you that I received no
notices or warnings from Webring at the time.
And to "sis_baldus", should you ever figure out that this page is still
the home for your stolen ring: assuming you didn't actually engineer this
hijack, then adopting this ring was like picking up a lost wallet.
Picking it up is not a bad thing, but keeping it once the owner has asked
for it back is a serious breach of personal integrity and not at all in
line with the spirit of community. The very spirit that I created this
ring solely to serve.
Most Sincerely,
Steven Parker, creator of the IC Webring
