Declaration from the ZEGG Residents' Plenary

The ZEGG Plenary has agreed a statement that should show a common political will. Contrary to all other rumours and false reports, we declare:

We, the residents of ZEGG, are opposed to every form of violence against humans, animals, plants and the planet Earth. We stand against:

  • every type of sexual abuse against women, children and men
  • every type of coerced intimacy
  • every type of discrimination on grounds of gender, race or belief system
  • every type of dogma and dogmatic thinking
  • every type of group pressure
  • every type of exploitation
  • every type of fascism
  • every type of military service
  • every use of atomic power and other technologies which endanger life

Instead of these, ZEGG is working to develop alternatives which in the long term protect, maintain and improve our inner and outer environments. In other words, we are working to build up structures which are self-regulating, ecological, grassroots and non-violent, just as we build a resistance against all forms of thinking and behaviour which stand in the way of life. The crises in our inner and outer environments are two sides of the same problems and only by recognising this can they be understood and perhaps solved. For example, we demonstrate against Castor, in Gorleben, Ahaus or elsewhere, against Temelin, Chernobyl, Uran-Abbau etc. And we are equally ready to bring our most personal issues with us into the politcal discussions. Naturally, like everyone who makes efforts, we also make mistakes. Which is exactly the reason we want every other initiative which is working in this direction to enter into and maintain a critical dialogue with us.

In order that real alternatives can be developed, it needs a union of all progressive and radical powers who are working against the destruction of life on our planet. Every type of elitist or factious thought will hinder the growing worldwide movement of human- and environment-friendly activists. That does not mean that we should face each other without criticising. Errors and mistakes must be named and cleared up, but in a solidaric dialogue instead of in battle.
