 Tribe

In these days of environmental and social distress, more and more people are looking to find a more sustainable way of living, both environmentally and socially. They're not wanting to be alone in a sea of strange faces--they're wanting a group with which they resonate with, a group with which they can go deep with, extended family, community--TRIBE. Yet how do we find tribe? Do we wait for it to come to us, actively seek it out, create it ourselves? Is finding members of your tribe about chemistry or intentionality? Can it really work or is it just a mode that worked when the Earth was younger and there were fewer people on the planet, fewer cities, and less technology?

This year at Summer camp we're going to do an experiment. We're going to explore what it means to create tribe. Using dance, music, art, theatre, and ritual we're going to explore creating relationships in small pods, working intentionally on those relationships--not to the exclusion of the other campers but as a bonus, as a spoke on the great wheel of Summer Camp. We're going to create our own tribal ways of celebrating changes, welcoming others into our tribes, solving conflicts, coming of age, and much much more. We're going to watch ourselves closely through this process...is it easy to create tribe? Does it feel different to go through Summer Camp with a pod of people? How does each tribe contribute to the whole? How does each individual contribute to each tribe?

So come, join us for this experiment in community and TRIBE. Together we'll work and play to create our dreams of community and solidarity. We'll see what we can discover about ourselves as individuals and as members of a community.
