Unmatched for brilliance and clarity, Bruce can make
the daunting world of cellular biology accessible to
virtually anyone. Challenging the assumptions of
conventional biology, his message is both hopeful and
compelling. Whether you are a parent, student, businessperson, laborer, educator or healthcare professional,
you need this information. It will change your world!
Scientist, author, university professor and lecturer, Bruce is currently
compiling research for his forthcoming book, The Biology of
Consciousness. Based upon his research at Stanford University,
Dr. Lipton's most recent research publications on the regulation of cell
behavior have yielded insight into the molecular basis of
consciousness and the future of human evolution. What is most exciting is
that there are patterns in evolution, and the development of community is
part of one of these patterns. Bruce is on the cutting edge of
the New Biology, which, like the New Physics, is changing the way we
see things. In this we find that much of Neo-Darwinian biology is gravely
in error and that the bleak picture it paints of our future is, at most, a
self-fulfilling prophecy. The vision of the New Biology is far more hopeful.
Returning for his third appearance at our annual Summer Camp conference and
retreat, Bruce has also been a guest several times on the Laura Lee Show,
AM 750 KXL, Portland.
Key Points of the New Biology
Newtonian Physics does not account for all of biology
All living tissue contains systems that behave as single quantum events.
Some cells have been shown to communicate using a process identical to
superconductivity - a quantum phenomenon. Potentially, Tantra and
Kundalini Yoga have a basis in physics and biology.
DNA does not determine cellular expression
It has been conclusively shown that DNA is not capable of self-activation,
meaning, among other things, that the nucleus cannot be the brain of the
cell. The nucleus, it turns out, is merely the cell's gonad; the cell's brain
is the cell membrane. From this perspective, how we perceive our world is
just as significant as what and how it objectively is.
Evolution is not random, but is environmentally directed
The Darwinian concept of evolution exclusively by variation and random
mutation is woefully incomplete. Cells have the capability to rewrite
their own DNA when environmentally prompted. This rewriting is typically
positively adaptive and most likely accounts for 95-98% of all evolutionary
change.
Evolution does not proceed on a continuum, but has patterns
Darwinian theory holds that, since evolution is blind and proceeds by
variation and random mutation, there are no patterns and, therefore, there
is no reliable vision of the future. However, there are patterns in
evolution and we have, therefore, a reliable, though not certain, vision of
the future.
Competition is not the only fundamental driving force of evolution
Cooperation is more positively adaptive than competition in substantially
any situation. Nature has evolved cooperative systems of such great complexity
that we are still discovering the equally great depth of our ignorance about
them. The development of community at many levels is the most striking example
of this.
