WINTER CAMP 'LITE' in Hawaii
Like last winter, Winter Camp 2008 is changing formats - Keith and Cat are putting together
an extended Winter Camp Lite.
Have you been yearning to bask in the warm Hawaiian sunlight? Swim with the
dolphins? Watch the whales? The opportunity is here with Winter Camp Lite.
As the name implies it will be light focused - there is no program other than
what you choose to do - be it swim, sun, and/or do personal work. There is no
structure other than a few minutes to check in at the beginning of the day to
coordinate any activities we'd like to do together.
See some pictures and commentary from one of last year's campers,
Mark.
We have a 1/2 acre in Kapoho with a five bedroom house / 3 baths / 2 kitchens.
This is rustic, rural Hawaii at its best. You can experience the most beautiful,
unspoiled tropical surroundings imaginable. We are within 3 minutes walking
distance to the Waiopea Marine Conservation Area and snorkeling in our crystal
clear tide pools. Languish in the naturally heated warm pond five minutes away,
a breathtaking ride down the Red Road to beautiful Kehena Beach (clothing
optional) 20 minutes away. No matter what your choices are, you will be richly
rewarded with taste after taste of our roads less traveled.
Pahoa, our nearest town about 8 miles away, is a funky little village of
colorful people doing their thing. There are fun little shops to visit and we
have some of the best offerings of restaurants on this side of the island. You
will find superbly prepared Thai, Bueno Mexican food to name a few with funky
decor, casual ambiance and a delightful surprise of wonderful cuisine. The
"Natch" to locals or Pahoa Naturals is a fine health food store with a wonderful
deli. The Maku'u farmers' market has a abundance of farm fresh & organic fresh
fruits and vegetables on Sundays! Share a rental car or no car necessary since
the Hele-On Bus goes by the end of block twice a day to Pahoa and on to Hilo.
The community you will meet on the property is lively and spirited, although
there is plenty of space for quiet and mediation. We ask there be no hard drugs,
no misuse of alcohol, and respect for the aina (land). We ask you to celebrate
the differences in the community.
The cost for this experience is $230 per week / DSL / Dish Network / washer-dryer /
sheets & towels if need / limited land line use (Cingular and Nextel cells work
here, others don't). If you are bringing a guest with you,
the cost will be an additional $50 per person per week (to share a room).
Additional rooms are $230. If you would like to tent camp, the cost is $50 per
week per person. Winter Camp Lite will be open from Dec 1, 2007 - April 30, 2008. (If your
stay is more extended, please ask about longer term.)
