Why I'm in the Network For a New Culture

Each of us comes into the network with different agendas. Some of us seek community for the sake of community, seeking only mutually compatible friends and lovers to share our lives with. Some seek a platform to express their own dreams, thoughts and visions. A few embrace power--seeking to do good works without taking the time to look at their own fears and scars. Some seek sexual gratification and nothing more. Others seek to heal the emptiness they feel in their hearts caused by tumultuous childhoods and emotional hurts in their adult lives. And then there are those who seek a oneness with the earth.

The earth is my agenda, and my criteria for joining the network. I can hear her sing, and I've heard her cry, and now she calls out gently to her children to come home.

We are all her children.

For too long we have been lost in the everyday struggles of living. We have allowed ourselves to become caught in the traps of dysfunctional relationships, drug and alcohol abuse, consumerism and the myriad of other distractions that we use to fill the emptiness in our hearts. When behaviors come out of fear, we allow the fear to feed into the bigger picture of violence, and it is this violence that feeds into the destruction of our earth. Our earth asks each of us to have the courage to step away from our own fears and stop the violence. She trusts that we can do it.

The earth, like all great mothers, loves her children unconditionally. All of the reasons listed above as to why someone would join the network are valid. Our earth doesn't really care what the personal agenda is, all she cares is that the journey brings her children home.
